 For the first time in a long while Wifey and I planned on getting out of the house early and catching a bite to eat which we haven’t done in ages. Then my buddy Wes calls and wants to hang out but he and his wife Tiff have already eaten so I suggest the Brillobox where I know we can at least grab a small bite and then move on.
After ordering we find out that the cook is sick and the owner is in back making a limited menu of things so I get a grilled cheese with soup. So much for dinner.
Wes and Tiff show up and on their way in they ran into old friend Ketan whose band Chibaba are going to be playing upstairs. So plans change and we trek upstairs and pay the $5 cover.
Chibaba are three guys playing sludge rock instrumentals, if that makes any sense. The girls hated it and went back downstairs. Wes and I gave it a chance and while Ketans’ bass mastery is up there with the best we couldn’t get too into it. Afterwards we went downstairs where the girls had secured prime bar seating amid a quickly filling room.
So we decided to stay and Wes and I moved between the upstairs and downstairs bars checking out each of the four bands on the bill.
The Big Sleep, playing last, was well worth the wait. They were spacey and explosive all mixed into one. And really that’s about all I remember about this. Cool girl singer, too.
