Local Honey / The Izzys
And I knew I couldn’t live up to my last Local Honey pictures so thankfully Hugh went multimedia with a camera and video and let me take care of business. Oh, and Wifey was there to minimize the damage. I guess things started falling apart as soon at Tim, the bartender, said they had no more Iron bottles. And with Pittsburgh Brewing on its last legs I figured I’d try my hand at drinking the last of the cans. The pool table was taken out and maybe twenty people were giving a shit when The Izzy’s came out. I totally forgot that Hugh was into these dudes and he quickly filled me in that these were some rockers from New York City. Seeing how much these guys sounded like the Stones I was feeling better about Wifey and I making a Del’s stop earlier in the night to flush out the legendary Kunk only to find out that he “no longer worked there” thanks to a little too much late night waiter partying. So, anyways, we recruited Bob. Only Bob never made it till after The Izzy’s were done and I think it bothered me ‘cause these guys were so Stonesy and Bob is the biggest Stones fan I know. Plus I loved the damn Izzy’s and Wifey did too. I think it brought us back to the random Saturday blasts we used to have when we lived down the street and were proud regulars of Gooski’s. Just a great rock and roll band. And how great is Local Honey? What a line up. They sound better every time I see them. And the best hangover show of support for the year can only go to Chris Cannon, of Skinks, who showed up with Dana to do the band-friend thing but wore his previous night’s drinking on his sleeve and looked like he’d feel a lot better if he was home in bed. Rebecca, a clear Izzy’s fan, decided on having her band play a set after the Izzy’s so that they could mix it up and though sometimes that can kill momentum, it seemed to work tonight as if only to provide some bullshitting time with Hugh and Rob, who was on a three week show-seeing spree that started in Florida. Hugh was in fine form and I think he actually even bought me a beer for a change. So I’m linking to his pictures since I didn’t take any. |
