 Not
much to write about on this one. A free outdoor show for CMU’s Spring
Carnival. Wifey was out of town on some religious retreat and the 13 year
old was a no go on this so it was just the baby and me. A huge crowd filled
the lawn. The Shins didn’t start till around 9:30 and it was getting
cold and the baby was getting fussy so I made the best of it. The keyboardist
was very talkative. He mentioned it was their first time in Pittsburgh,
felt like he could get snipered from one of the buildings surrounding
the crowd and wondered why whenever he said to people that he liked our
city they would respond, “Oh, just wait.”
Their set was somewhat subdued
and the crowd from where I was at was just kind of lazing around half
paying attention. I took off after they played the Garden State song and
on the walk back to the car could hear them tearing into a Zeppelin melody
and kicking it up a notch. The damn baby was sick for days after this
and wifey yanked by baby privileges for a while.
